This ship was scheduled for a deep sea diving operation. While enrouting to destination, the ship encountered a severe storm and the hydraulic shaft of the marine crane was damaged when the chain securing the hydraulic shaft broke and hit against it. The crane was a primary essential equipment for diving operation and replacement of this heavy crane spare-part takes several months to arrive. Thus, the crane operation came to a standstill.
Sterling Impreglon Asia was invited to repair the damaged hydraulic shaft on-board M.V. Bar Protector. There were more than 20 indentations on the surface of the hydraulic shaft which we grind open and repaired using Sterling brush plating process.
The damaged area after it has been electrolytically filled with copper utilizing Sterling Brush Plating Process.
Nickel is then electrolytically deposited and polished to final surface finish and tolerances
